How To Win Competitions:
So you have a horse... he's high skilled.... and he needs to be BLUPed. Or maybe you're trying to be like the top ranked players and have breeding farms full of comp horses to win you some ranks and Equus. But no luck... what are you doing wrong? Read on!
Are Comps Judged?
I have seen a few people claim they know how the comps are judged and what to do to your horse so they win every time. Like on age, breed, coat color, etc. That is not true. Comps are not "judged", to the best of my knowledge. No one knows what determines what horses win, although it is by skills, in some way.
How to win:
These are the basic tips that you can use to lessen the chances of your horse losing the comp:
- If your horse has won less than 20 competitions, then check the "show competitions for beginners only" box on the upper right side under your horses's skills and energy display. These comps are easier for your horse as it isn't competing against experienced horses who have won more skill gains from entering comps alone.
- When you enter comps, don't limit to the ones for your horse's best skills. The comps for horses of your's breed only, keep in mind you are competing against horses who have the same general skill levels. So if you are entering a comp which IS your horse's best skill set, you could enter one of the non-breed-reserved comps since you are likely to compete against horses who do not have a best skill in the area of the comp. Likewise, when entering a comp which is NOT your horse's best skill set, entering comps reserved for your horse's breed can be good since none of those horses are fantastic in that skill set either.
- When you enter your horse in a comp, write down the the name of the EC whom is hosting that comp EXACTLY or just copy it to your clipboard. Then open the comp itself in a new tab (right click on the name). Now see what the lowest skill requirement is, and write that down. (don't copy it!) go back to the enter a comp page and enter your horse in that comp, then go find one of your horses who is just at or barley above that skill requirement and click to enter it in the same type of comp (it must be the same specialty obviously). Now paste that EC name into the search box at the bottom of the page, and find the right one and enter it. Because your horse is at the lowest end of the skill level it will both lower the amount of skills your horse needs to win and will fill a spot in the comp with a lower skilled horse which could have been filled by a horse with higher skills than yours.
- When you look for a comp, scroll through ALL of them and find the one with the lowest difficulty level whether anyone else is entered yet or not. If there are two with the same skill level I pick the one with the lowest energy, then the one with the most prestige, then the one with the most kitty, and if THAT doesn't narrow it down enough, I just toss a coin.
