Everything You Need To Know About Divines & Specials:
Divines and Specials- the two types of horses that every player dreams of someday having. Here all the Divines & Specials in the game:
Wild Horses:
Also there are the Wild Horses which must be tamed before you can do anything with them, They can never be boarded in an EC, meaning you need a Hypnos' Blanket on them. You can tame them, which will use 50% energy at a time and will add 3-5% tameness to them You can ask for help, which will add 1%, but it will cost 200e at first and then double every time. They cannot breed and cannot be sold.
If you have any questions or suggestions, please let me know here, or comment below!
Water Divines
The only trait that the Water Divines share altogether is their names and appearances, which all relate to water in some way. None of them share the same types of benefits or bonuses. As far as I know they can't be sold, but there may be exceptions to this rule, since Howrse often times fails to mention these details on the divine's page and I've never had one. ;)
Cascade
Cascade's skills jump all over the board; one day it's jumping at best and the next day, the best is gallop, the next maybe stamina. She may breed once with Snowflake to produce Geyser, another divine. Every 1st of the month a Cascade is given at random to a player who logged on at least 20 different days out of the previous month. She is not sell-able but upon her release there was glitch where they were selling, and many players were mad about that- they were selling for around 200 000e and 80-90 passes. A week later it was fixed and all the Cascades were un-listed, resulting in a huge uproar of anger from many players, who hounded Howrse admin and Contact Us till they got a 10-pass compensation. |
Frost:
Is the second female Divine, can reproduce once with Ocean to get a Snowflake. On her public page players can defrost her (limit 1 per day) with the chance of getting a Hypnos' Blanket, a BMI that allows you to care for your horse without boarding it in an EC. Every month one of the players who helped to defrost Frost will get a Frost. |
Geyser
Geyser is the son of Cascade and Snowflake. He has amazing skills (4700+) which switch around at random- one day his best is jumping, another speed, another trot, etc etc. Because he gives off so much heat, your meadows in your Equestrian Center will gain fertility at the rate of 3% a day in any season (when fallow) instead of 1% in spring and summer and .02% in winter and fall. He cannot be sold. |
Mist:
Mist cannot be sold but can reproduce only once in order to create an Ocean. She is the second of only two female Divines on the game. Her highest skill varies daily, it could be Stamina one day, it could be Jumping the next day and Trot the next. I don't know about the other non-English speaking servers but on the Polish one, this horse is named Fog, not Mist. |
Snow:
Cannot be sold, can reproduce, only once with Mist to produce Ocean. The different colors repersent its different best skills.
Please note that it's the name of the horse, at the top, that turns color, and not the horse itself! |
Falabellas
All the Falabellas are the same except for their names and colors, and where they come from. All of their names mean "Tiny" in the language of the country of their supposed origin.
Players who own a Falabella have 1 chance in 100 of winning a bonus when they register one of their horses in a competition. Players with 2 Falabellas have 2 chances in 100 of getting the bonus, and so on...The bonus is effective for 4 days in the life of the horse; it cannot be cumulated.
None of these can reproduce, all of them can be sold.

Mythological Divines
As far as I know, the Mythological divines don't really have much in common with each other. They all sport names from Greek Mythology, but they don't exactly do any of the same things. Xanthos couldn't be any more different than the Greyfell, and so on and so forth. The majority of these Divines cannot be sold or reproduce, but there are exceptions. Most of them are also male.... but there are exceptions.
Greyfell:
This horse cannot be sold but can reproduce. Every day it loses health, and if you keep it alive for 30 days, when it dies you'll get two diamonds and 20 000e. You can bring it back with a Pandora's Box or add a P. Stone to it so it doesn't die, but in neither instance will you get the diamonds and Equus. If you don't think it'll make it past 30 days however you can use Black Orchids on it to revive it, and still get your prizes. You can breed these horses to other Greyfells and make more Greyfells, which might be a reason to make it immortal, so you can get the prizes from all its foals. (There are no special conditions provided both sire and dam are Greyfells) There are 12 different types of Greyfells, only two of which are female making breeding a hair challenging at times. If you have at least one of each of the twelve kinds you have the option, on the first of the month, to turn one into a Palomino Sleipnir. This is the only way to get one of that color, as far as I know. The option will be on one of your Greyfell's pages; It is not known whether the Greyfell can turn back or not, although one would think not. |
Xanthos:
You can visit the public page of one of these, and stroke it, for a chance to win a Horn Of Plenty, 1000e, or both. But every player will get 10 energy points for their most recently born horse whether they win the HoP and 1000e or not. It can be sold but it can't reproduce. It was among the first Divines to be added to Howrse. The original Xanthos, pictured at left, had a signature sort of glow behind it, while the modern Xanthos looks less like a mythical thing and more like a horse. |
Sleipnir:
Sleipnirs can only come in four colors: orange, black, silver, and brown. They have 8 legs. On November 30th 2011 they removed the option for this Divine to run away from its owner, if the owner hadn't logged in for 30 days or cared for it seven days in a row, as it used to run to another Sleipnir owner. It has no purpose and doesn't award the owner with anything, although a few ideas for making it "do" something useful had went through the Ideas Forum, all which were ultimately rejected. By the time the Ideas forum was terminated in 2014, the Sleipner remained a pointless Divine. |
Gemstone Divines
The Gemstone Divines really are a set of matching horses. All named and designed after precious gemstones, these Divines run on diamonds. Most of them can have their skills boosted with diamonds, and up until a certain age, they will award their owners with more diamonds under certain conditions.
Ruby:
This horse was first prize to the players who entered in the Howrse Lottery. It comes with a WoY And every time it has a birthday it gives the owner a diamond. It takes about twelve days to get five diamonds because of the WoY, but ten of these diamonds equal one pass and can be used in substitute at the Black Market. |
Sapphire:
This Gemstone Divine can reproduce with an Emerald to get a Topaz. It was won in a contest, for making 30 potions, where you made a 31st one build this horse. Every day the Sapphire will lead its owner to a player's page, and if the owner does it right they get one diamond on even days and 1000e on odd days. |
Solar System Divines
The SSDs are, like the Gemstones, truly a set of bookends.... well, a very over-sized set of bookends. ;) These Divines are all named and designed after the planets and universes that make up outer space, and the areas around our lovely planet Earth. They can be ridden in different galaxies and planets and Milky Ways to increase their skills, instead of the mundane forest, mountain, and beach rides to which our earthly horses are destined. Sometimes, some of them will award their owners with diamonds and the like under special circumstances.
Some of them may reproduce under certain conditions, some of them may be sold.

Io:
For what it's worth, this horse's name starts with an i. NOT an L. In some fonts, it looks like it's the other way around, lol, which confused the heck out of me... but anyway, moving on... Io is male, and he can be ridden throughout Jupiter to increase his skills. If he places 2nd in two competitions on the same day, he'll offer you a diamond. This may only happen once per day. He cannot be sold and cannot reproduce. |
Mars:
He is male, and may reproduce with Venus to create Uranus. I'm not sure if Mars may reproduce more than once or not, but his only option, Venus, only gets to do so once, so one would assume not. He may be ridden on a Supernova to increase his skills. Every time he earns 20 skill points, he awards you with a diamond. He cannot be sold. |
Venus:
Venus is female, and coincidentally, the one divine I, myself, wish I could have more than anything, lol. She can be ridden on an exoplanet to increase her skills. Whenever there's a new moon, she'll bring you five diamonds, as long as you logged in the past three days. She can reproduce, but cannot be sold. (so I'll never have one, lol...) |
Wind Divines
The Wind Divines are all named after things relating to Greek Mythology (I think), and many of the names mean something to do with wind (i.e. Aeolus was the god of wind). These Divines can be ridden over Oceans to increase their wind strength, or mountains to increase their skills, or plains to increase both. Until they are 3100 years old they can generate a storm when their wind strength reaches 100% and it will leave a gift behind, either a BMI, or a diamond. Howrse removed the option to win "another surprise" that comes from the store in 2013 so you would be more likely to win something of higher value. The direction of the wind determines what you win that day as well as what the horse wins that day.
Horses of the rainbow
The Horses of the Rainbow act mostly like Gemstone divines, but were introduced in the Spring Rainbow Cards promotion of April, 2015. There are Eight Rainbow horses in total. These horses will earn extra perks for VIP users as well. Once you own all seven horses of the rainbow, you will obtain Secret Rainbow, another horse.
Forest Green
Forest Green is the son of Lovely Blue and Shiny Yellow. He is pictured at left, as foal at the far left and an adult right of that. He will award you with 1 diamond every Thursday, as long as you've logged in at least 1 time in the past 3 days. VIP users will have the energy use of riding in forests halved on Thursdays. |
